That's right

Bear's Choice

Bear's Choice, (Warner Bros. 1973.)
The first album made from what I now call my "sonic journals". This album was excerpted from two of the shows at the Fillmore East in Feb 1970, a show which was extra nice, as the mixing board and the hall were sweet-sounding. The Allman Brothers were the opener for the shows, and the next album is from their sets. The second act was Arthur Lee's band Love. Please read the note on DP4 below about this series of shows.

I was 22 when it was released. Don't remember exactly when I "discovered" Bear's Choice but it wasn't purchased as a "new release". However it has been in semi-regular rotation ever since.

On or about July 13, 1973, me and my Dead-head friends were getting our tickets for Watkins Glen and Roosevelt Stadium.

Well I bought the damn thing as a 22 yr old in 1993, and the track I've Been All Around This World definitely justified the exhorbitant price I'm sure I paid back then (the Wherehouse was never cheap).

I was 21... respect your elders. I've only spun that vinyl about 5 times. In that era, I wanted more like 'Live Dead'. Kudos to Bear - we'd be missing so much without his invaluable contributions.

Well I guess your 52 puts you 4 up on my 56, so tip of the hat, grandpa. Live/Dead was pretty much the key to the door for me too.

I was 21 on this day (in 1984) when I got my first of two Dark Stars (second one being in Hampton).

I was 10 (probably out riding my Schwinn Typhoon)

and my oldest turned 17 yesterday.

Does that make me a member of the old club?

On or about July 13, 1973, me and my friends were still recovering from the 3 nights at the Universal Amphitheater. One of the few good things about being old. :)
